Tabata training is one of the best inventions in the world of health and fitness. The Tabata training is a series of workout techniques invented by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata of the Japan National Institute of Fitness and Sports. Tabata training is a high intensity interval training in which a person works out hard for 20 seconds, rests for 10 seconds and repeats this 8 times over a 4 minute period.

Dr. Izumi Tabata and his team conducted research in which they divided athletes into two groups. The researchers made the first group of athletes train at a moderate intensity. The second group of athletes were told to train at a high intensity level. The group of athletes that trained at a high intensity level showed improvements in their muscles and anaerobic system. This proves that Tabata training is more effective than a moderate intensity level training. In other words, it means that this 4 minute training is more effective than the usual 60 minute workout.

As previously noted, the Tabata training is a 4 minute workout in which a person works out in a very high intensity for 20 seconds, rests for 10 seconds and repeat it 8 times. This method is more effective for burning fat than most workout methods. This is because the workout increases your body’s metabolic rate. The other benefit of the Tabata training is that it is not time consuming. Due to our daily routines, we usually don’t have time to do a full 60 minute workout. The Tabata workouts however, offer us a chance to do workouts that are more effective and more efficient. As proven from the research conducted by Dr. Tabata and his team, the training helps improve our anaerobic system making it another benefit.

Workouts to Try with this Method

Squats, push-ups, pull-ups, and sprints are more effective when implemented in the Tabata training method. In addition, you can try workouts such as burpees, mountain climbers, walking lunges, and box jumps with this method. Weight lifting can also be done with this training. When using this method, you should prepare for the hardest ever workout you’ve ever had. After training for 4 minutes, you will feel very tired because of the high level intensity you have went through. You will lose more fat in a shorter period of time if you try it for at least 3 times a week. The Tabata method should not be tried by people that exercise for the first time.
